This week, Monaco welcomes to the stunning fleet of 66 classic yachts for the Biennial MONACO CLASSIC WEEK organised by the Yacht Club de Monaco.  The festival is an ode to the principals maritime history, with only the best examples of classic yachting are invited.

From big sailing boats (25 meter+) and period motor yachts to Rivas and Dinghy 12’s, the event will also welcome a few numbers of the Y.CO fleet, including the 55m sailing yacht ELENA, a meticulous recreation of the 1928 Trans-Atlantic record holder, and 32m motor yacht HEAVENLY DAZE, a beautiful 1972 Feadship which will also take precedence in activities serving as the committee boat.

There will be a host of events during the festival:

Titouan Lamazou exhibition To celebrate the Monaco Yacht Club’s 60th anniversary. Marlborough Gallery.  10th – 28th September.

Chefs’ Competition – Chef and table presentation competition with a jury headed up by the legendary Alain Ducasse. 12th September, from 10:30.

Classic Yacht Races – Various sailing regattas and challenges. 12th -15th September, from 13:00.

Belem – France’s last surviving 3-mast merchant ship. Open to Public: 12th -15th September. 5€ contribution / under 12s free.

Art de Vivre la Mer Auction – Auction including old boats, paintings and nautical objects, for those who want to get into the classic spirit. 13th September, from 18:00.

If that were not enough to tantalise your taste buds, the event also sees the official launch of the FEADSHIP HERITAGE FLEET by Royal van Lent’s CEO Dick van Lent.  An association for the owners of Feadships built more than 30 years ago, set up to promote to continuation of their sailing heritage.

Monaco Classic week is the perfect prequel to the month’s other big event – where we open doors to the world of contemporary yachting at the MONACO YACHT SHOW.
